About

Who writes VGWiki.

Students do, with no approval queue in the way. That works because every version of every page is kept.

VGWiki is an encyclopedia about Vista Grande. The school itself, the clubs, the teams, the traditions nobody ever wrote down, the platform you're reading this on. It works the way you'd expect a wiki to work, except the subject is one campus and the people writing it are the students who actually know the place.

Reading costs you nothing. The whole wiki is public, and you don't need an account to read it. Search a title, browse the A to Z index, or hit Random and see where you end up.

Editing takes a school account and nothing else. Sign in with your Vista Grande email, get a one-time code, and the Edit button is yours on every page. There's no approval queue and nobody to ask permission from. Fix a date that went stale, add the section an article is obviously missing, or start a page that should have existed years ago. Your edit goes live as soon as a quick automatic check clears it.

What keeps that safe is the history. Every version of every article is kept, with who changed what and when, so you can compare two versions side by side and roll a bad edit back in one click. Nothing is ever really lost, which is exactly why anyone gets to edit in the first place. Every article also has a Talk page, so a disagreement about an article can happen next to it instead of inside it, and you can watch the pages you care about to see when they move.

The model is Wikipedia, and not loosely. Open editing, a full history behind every article, a Talk page for the arguments, and a rollback button for when somebody gets it wrong are all lifted straight across. What changes is the scope. Wikipedia has to turn away subjects that aren't notable enough for a general encyclopedia, which is nearly everything that happens at a high school. Here the only test is whether a Spartan would want to look it up.

What it does

One encyclopedia, kept by everyone.

Anyone can edit

If you have a Vista Grande account, you can fix a typo or write a whole article. No approval queue to wait on.

Every change is kept

Full page history on every article. See who changed what, compare versions, and roll back a bad edit in a click.

Talk it out

Every article has a Talk page. Raise a question or flag a problem before you change the article itself.

Watch what matters

Follow the articles you care about and keep an eye on your own contributions from your VGWiki hub.

Easy to search

Find any article by title, browse the full A-Z index, or hit Random when you just want to explore.

By and for the school

Written by the students who go here, about the place they actually know. It gets better every time someone edits.

Three steps

From reading to editing.

1

Read anything

The whole encyclopedia is public. Browse, search, and read without signing in.

2

Sign in to edit

Use your school email. One-time code, no password. Now the Edit button is yours.

3

Make it better

Fix a fact or write a new page. Your edit goes live once a quick automatic check clears it, and takes its place in the page history.
